Notes for Godred King of the Isles & Man
The “Paradox of Medieval Scotland 1093-1286” database gives:

“Godred (Guðrøðr) was the son of Olaf (Óláfr) (d.1153), king of Man and the Isles, and probably his second wife Affrica, daughter of Fergus, lord of Galloway. Godred succeeded his father as king though he faced opposition from his half-brother, Rögnvald (Rögnvaldr). Godred married Fingola, grand-daughter of Muirchertach mac Lochlainn, king of Ireland, by the winter of 1176-7, at which point the marriage was formalised by Cardinal Vivian, papal legate. He had a daughter, Affrica, who married John de Courcy. Godred died on 10 November 1187 on St Patrick's Isle, Peel, and the following summer was buried on Iona.”
