Notes for William Fitz William
October 2004: It has been proposed more cogently recently that this William did not quite dsp, though his heirs were indeed his sisters Agnes and Matilda. It seems that he had an unknown mistress and they had two sons, Roger and Robert. Of Roger nothing is known but Robert fitz William le Constable was the founder of the Constable family of Holme and Flamborough.

C T Clay in his “Early Yorkshire Families”, p. 21, pub 1983, says that this William was probably the father of Robert Constable, a bastard.
