Notes for Sir Alexander de Abernethy
His wife is unknown.
Aug 2006: John Ravilous in soc.genealogy.medieval on 24th August has come up with some evidence about a Margaret de Abrenythy who was in Queen Isabella of England’s household in 1311-12 in the company of other four and well-married ladies. So he suggests that she was the wife of this Alexander de Abernethy. He further wonders if she was a daughter of Alexander, earl of Mentieth. Further developments are eagerly awaited.
Nov 2006: John Ravilous has been told by Andrew MacEwen that the latter has found evidence that Margaret was indeed a daughter of earl Alex of Mentieth. Details to be produced in a forthcoming publication.
