Notes for William Vaux
CP reports, XII/2, 216, note (b), that he may have acquired Harrowden by inheritance from William Thirning (d. 1413), Chief Justice of the Common Pleas.  See “The origin of the Family of Vaux of harrowden” by G A Moriarty in Misc Gen et Heraldica, 5th ser, vol v, pp. 280-301 and cf vol iv, pp. 102-12.  The Vaux family seems to have come from Bottisham, Cambs.
