Notes for Berta
She may well have been Ranulf de Glanville's grand-daughter (cf Rosie Bevan soc.gen.med., 7.9.2002). But if she was a neice, here's an analysis.
Ranulf de Glanville had three brothers (ex Keats-Rohan's Domesday Descendants, p. 477):
1. Osbert, who m. the widow of Wm de Criketot and was a lawyer of sorts, surviving until the 1190s.
2. Gerard, who m. (1) Emma de Cuckney and (2) Matidla, dau of Adam FitzSwain. He apparently dsp.
3. Hervey (II) of whom nothing is known.
From the brothers, Osbert is thus the candidate for her father. Ranulf also had two sisters:
1. Goia (or poss. Gytha) who m. (1) Richard Bussel, (2) Adam de Belnai, (3) Alfred de Murious.
2. Alice wife of Geoffrey of Lodden.
On the death of her son, her (Glanville) property went one-third to Ranulf, son of Robert of Middleham; Ranulf was the grandson of Ranulf de Glanville. One third went to Thomas de Arderne and the last third to Hugh de Auberville; I do not (yet) know how the latter two were related to her.

However K-R in DD p. 722 says that Wm. II de Suteville's wife was Emma.

Wallop, p. 364, says she was the dau. of Gerard de Glanville and Emma de Cuckney.
