| Notes for John Wetherall | ||||||||
| m. (1) N.N., (2) Mary Wolfe. | ||||||||
| Will | ||||||||
| John Betham's Abstract of his will, made in 1802, only source due loss of all Irish wills by fire around 1922 in their civil war of that time: "Wetherall, John, Dublin esqre Dated 2nd April 1786 22nd March 1794 Wife Mary W - Daughter Mary Wife of Henry Hamilton Esqre - Daughter Isabella W ----- William W formerly of the Wt Indies - now Dublin - Niece Charlotte W - Daughter of my late Brother William W - Sister Mary Millicken - Nephews John - Joseph - George - William and Rogers W - Capt Frederick Augustus of the 17th Regt of Foot now on duty at Gibraltar - Revd John W Chaplain to said Regt." ________________________________ Remarkably a much fuller text of this was extracted before 1912, when his Wetherall book was published, at the command of Frederick Bradford McCrea and included in his book, pp. 8-10. This is written in an indirect tense and is not the sort of words that I have ever seen used in a will. So my conclusion is that this is an extract too, though with far more information than Betham’s ‘Genealogical Extract’. So this does not give us the original text either. | ||||||||
