Notes for Hugh Mortimer
CP says he was of Mortimer’s Hall, Hants but Brad Verity has found no record of this and says he was of Kyre Wyard and Martley, Worcestershire, and Tedstone Wafer, Herefordshire, and was the heir of the Tedstone Wafer Mortimers. The evidence has not yet been made public.

TFPL, OCT 2005: I have discovered Charles Evans’ article on these Mortimers of Chirk and their descendants, originally published in the New England Historical and Genealogical Register in Jan 1962. This makes it reasonably clear that the line was of the Mortimers of Chirk and the continuing family holding was Tedstone Wafre in Herefords. From this article Hugh’s family is traced.
