The Sussex Visitation says she was Joan, dau of Sir Edmond Thorpe the younger of Ashwell Thorpe, Norfolk. It also says there was another sister Elizabeth Thorpe who m. Phillip Tilney of Boston.
May 2004, TFPL: Latest discussion on s.g.m says that she was neither Elizabeth nor Joan but Mary Shoyswell and that they had four children:
Sir William
Robert
Sir Thomas
Joan.
Thomas had a daughter Elizabeth who m. William Lunsford and had a son William L. who m. Thomasine Barrington. As yet I have no evidence for this link and currently have Elizabeth descended from another Thomas Echyngham.
