Arms Generally notes for William (IV) FitzAlan Earl of Arundel
The Dean of St George, Windsor’s tables has his arms as Gules a lion Or.

His stall plate is missing.  Louda illustrates his arms with Gules a lion Or (FitzAlan) quartering Sable a fret Or (Maltravers); this is confirmed in S.M. Leake’s “Type of Garter Stall Plates of 1758, thoughh this might be for a later William FitzAlan, the 11th earl of Arundel, his grandson.

If he was entitled to quater Muschamp, I have no record of where this came from.

Interestingly there is a note from Ashmole that the FitzAlans of Bedale bore a Barry of Or and Gules.  (See p. 125 of the Surtees Society’s Visitations of the North, vol 4, p. 125.)  So it might be that the quarter 2 is not Muschamp at all, but FitzAlan ancient.  It may even be that these arms are falsely quartered!

3: Sable a fret Gules (Maltravers).
Blazon source notes for William (IV) FitzAlan Earl of Arundel
The Dictionary of British Arms, medieval Ordinary, Volume One, p. 132.  But this does not make it clear whether this was for this William or for his grandson william, also KG.

Leake “Types of the Garter Plates” of 1758 confirms the FitzAlan and Maltravers quarters but it is not clear that this was for this earl William.
