| Notes for Rev Johnson Atkinson Busfeild |
This is probably he, from The Times of 2nd March 1818:
“On Sunday forenoon, during Divine service, at Quebec-chapel, Upper Seymour-street, a serious accident occurred. Just as the Rev. Dr. Busfeild began his sermon, a gentleman. who sat nearly underneath the pulpit, was seized with an apoplectic fit, which alarmed the people sitting near him so much, that they attempted a sudden retreat. This movement caused great alarm to the congregation, who did not know the cause. Suddenly some person gave the alarm of fire, and the whole congregation began to rush precipitately towards the doors. Numbers of ladies and gentlemen were thrown down and trampled over, and some were seriously hurt. The life of one female who suffered is despaired of. __________________
