This indicates that John and Henry Lilford died before their father, probably in India, so let’s see what can be found of these:

One death in India:

First name(s)   Last name  Birth year  Burial year  Place    Presidency
Vernon William  Powys      —           1841         Benares  Bengal
____________________

In his will he explicitly provided for his two younger children, Caroline Mary Powys and Edward Atherton Powys, then in the custody of his sister-in-law, Miss Caroline Beckett. of Hunter Street, London.  He made apparently generous provision for his daughter by giving her two houses in India and passing on to her the part of his marriage settlement that came from his wife’s family.
