|Notes for Thomas (aka John) Darcy|
|Was he the Thomas Darcy who acquired Tolleshunet Darcy (aka Tolleshunt Tregoz) by marriage with a dau. of a Boys? CF Burke, Extinct Peers, p. 156 and Burke, Extinct baronets, p. 152.|
If so, he was son of Robert Darcy of Malden Essex who obtained that by marrying (2) Alice FitzLangley and the widow of the owner of Malden.
He m.(1) Anne Tyrrell, dau of Sir Thos. of Heron; and was this the Sir Thos. who d. 1476 and m. Anne Marney?
Let's look at some dates:
Nicholas Barrington died in 1507.
He married Anne Darcy as his first wife.
So Anne must have died before 1507.
Assume Anne was 25 at death.
So she was probably born around 1480, possibly earlier.
Now for the Darcys:
Anthony Darcy was the eldest son of the first John or Thomas Darcy of Tolleshunt Darcy.
Anthony was sheriff of Essex in 1512.
Anthony died in 1540.
The next Thomas Darcy of Tolleshunt Darcy:
This was the second son of the above Anthony.
This Thomas was born in 1511.
So his parents, Anthony (and Elizabeth) must have married well before 1511.
When was Anthony born?
Might he have been 35 when he was appointed sheriff in 1513?
If, so this gives him a birth date of 1480 odd.
Were Anthony and Anne, wife of Nich. Barrington, brother and sister?
The dates make it look highly likely.
So Anne's father must have been the John (aka Thomas) who was the second son of the first Robert Darcy in Burke's Extinct Peerage.
So, with the odd reservation, I'm going to link Anne's father to Robert Darcy...
