GeneralDraper of London. Alderman 1448-50, Sheriff: 1439:40
Notes for Philip Malpas Alderman
He was also MP for London in 1432 and 1442, Auditor in 1431-3.
His house was sacked by Jack Cade's followers.
He was originally a Lancastrian supporter but may have changed to the Yorkists.
His two daus. both married mayors of London.
The other dau. was Philippa who m. Sir Ralph Josselyn (1422-1460) mayor of London 1465 and 1476who m. (2) Elizabeth Barlee who in her turn m. (2) Sir Robert Clifford. (See Beaven’s Aldermen o London.)

I wonder if he was the Philip de Malpas who was probably a son of a Roger de Malpas who was son of David de Malpas? See Ormerod’s Cheshire, vol II, pp. 640 and 641, who suggests this.
