Smyth's chapter on him is "Maurice the third"; and 'The magnificent'. 2nd wife, dsp, was Isabel de Clare.
CP reckons it more likely that he was born in 1271, so that he fathered a son at 24, rather then at 14. Not sure myself. Smyth's view is based on the IPM for his father. |
