Notes for Jean Stuart
From The Scots Magazine 1767, Volume 29: for Feb 1767:

DEATHS...
"27 At Edinburgh, in the 76th year of her age, Mrs Jean Stewart, relict of Alexander Trotter of Catleshiel, Esq; daughter of the deceased Sir Robert Stewart of Allanbank, Bt."

From Coltness Collections:
"Jean, second daughter of Sir Robert Steuart of Allanbank, Baronet, by Jean, daughter of President Sir John Gilmour of Graigmillar, married, in 1708, Alexander Trotter of Cattleshiel. She seems to have inherited much of the religious feeling of her grandfather the provost, and her uncle the Lord Advocate; and from her MSS., a volume of "Meditiation upon Several Texts of Scripture" was printed in 1771. Her son Alexander, a youth of much piety and promise, who died in 1729, aged nineteen, was the friend of Sir James Steuart Denham, and of him the anecdote at p.283 of this volume is told."

RCL P-L, in one of his notebooks, calls her Anne.
