Notes for John Slaney
Emily J Climenson in 1899:

The present head of the Slaney family is Colonel William St Kenyon Slaney, of Hatton Grance, Shifnal, Salop.

The Slaneys are of a very ancient family: Adolphus de Slainie or Slane is supposed to have come to England from Bohemia in the Empress Maud's train.

A point to follow up:

A John Slaney of Norwich died on July 17th 1791, leaving Caroline Powys 2,000 pounds and each of her children 50 guineas.  Who was John Slaney?

He had a sister, Mrs Keeling who had a daughter Mrs Cooke who died on 20 Jan 1792.  (Wow!)
Will notes for John Slaney
His will is dated 28 Nov 1715, in it he said he was a merchant taylor of London, lived in a house near Aldgate, London.

He lists:
His wife (unnamed),
His mother Alice Slany,
His brother Richard Slany,
His sister Carwardin (?)
His sisters Alice, Elizabeth and Sarah Slany

He appointed his mother Alice and his brother Richard as joint executors.

He wrote a codicil on 30 Aug 1720 when he was living in Worcs and named:

His wife Barbara,
His father or mother in law Mitford,
His brother in law Levi Ball

John Bagley was a witness to this codicil.
