| Azure, semée of fleurs-de-lis argent, a lion rampant of the last, armed gules. The above arms were indeed those of Holand, though the lion was always guardant, but were not often used by him. In fact, as witnessed by the British Dictionary of Arms, he usually used the arms of his maternal grandfather, Edmund of Woodstock, viz Gules three lions passant Or within a border Argent. I even recollect seeing some royal order giving effect to this change. March 2011: So I have no longer included him in the scheme of quarterings as he did not use unique arms. More properly those of his grandfathers Edmund of Woodstock and Robert Holland bore their arms uniquely. ___________________ | ||||||||||||||||
