In Betham's "Baronetage of England", 1801:
"5. Nicholas, who was knighted; which Sir Nicholas de Barenton, custos of the forest, by deed styled Dnus Nic de Barenton, lived in the reigns of King John and Henry III. He first took to wife Mary, daughter of John Bovile; secondly Maud. daughter of Sir Ralph Mortoft, Knt. He had no issue by the first, but by the latter a daughter, Margaret, married to Sir James Umfreville, and several sons, whereof ...[to No 6, Nicholas de Barenton]" |
