| Martin P-L writes: second baron. 1775 born 1794 admitted to Lincoln's Inn 1797 married Henrietta Maria Vernon Atherton, of Lancs. She brought into the marriage Bank Hall, which had come to her mother (nee Legh) from a first cousin, George Antony Legh-Keck. 1825 died. They had six sons. The second, Robert Vernon, married in Bengal. From him is descended the present Lord. Numbers three and four both joined the church. No. 3, born in the year of Trafalgar, was christened Horatio and became the bishop of Sodor & Mann. Nos. 4 & 5 [recte 5 & 6] joined the army. [The fifth,] Major the Hon. Henry Littleton Powys added -Keck by Royal Licence (as another branch added Lybbe) which his descendants have retained. He served in the Sixtieth Regiment of Foot, the Royal Rifles. His brother Charles originally joined the Navy but transferred to the Ninth Lancers, whom he commanded at the relief of Lucknow. He was also engaged in the Sikh War and the Indian Mutiny. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
