| Notes for Ian Rennie Turner |
In 1947 when he registered Bridget's birth, he was a Captain in the RASC, no 204031 and living at 1 Lothian Terrace, Port Clarence, Middlesbrough.
In 1951 when he registered Tony’s birth, he was a Purchasing Manager (Pharmaceutical Laboratories).
TFPL, Oct 2011: He was sent to a preparatory school at Probus, Cornwall while his parents were in Singapore and did not see them again for many years, possibly nine. This was undoubteddly (that infamous genealogical principle) because his uncle Alfred Elphinstone Turner had retired to that village and was able to assist in looking after him. Ian’s first cousin Elphinstone Docra Turner ended up marrying a lass whose family had lived in that area for centuries and who refused to move out of it, even though Elphinstone was working at various places around the globe. |
