Membership of the Royal Bastards SocietyThis is a Society whose name causes much hilarity in England but it has been going in the United States of America for some 56 years. Their methods though are not laughable as they are setting high standards of genealogical proof for membership of the Society. They have an internet site too. What I've put here are the major documents I have gathered for proof that we are descended from at least one bastard. Perhaps I have made it easy for myself as the bastard I have chosen is well documented and his descendants are likewise well documented. In a preliminary exchange of thoughts of how to do the proof with their treasurer, I got the impression that they would prefer that a less well-known bastard was chosen to open up the researches done by members of the Society. Perhaps I shall also go for a difficult option when I've got in, though there is a nearer one whose descent we share with the Duchess of Cornwall, thus adding a certain je ne sais quoi to the details. Here's the documents I've put together, the last six being PDF files. Note that some of them are rather large, being scans from old documents. Further the scanning method means that they will look much clearer when printed, as opposed to on a screen.
