The table below was produced in response to a discussion on the medieval
genealogy newsgroup on the subject of how knights were named. The stall-
plates have survived from before 1485 in St George's Chapel, Windsor and
most of them include on them the names of the knights. The names were
found in a superb book of images of these plates by W H St John Hope,
"Stall Plates of Plantagenet knights of the Garter", published in 1902.
